Voice and Tone
Our goal with Format Magazine is to educate, inspire, and inform readers through discussions of what’s happening in the world of photography. This means our tone is usually more casual rather than academic, and friendly rather than didactic. While we certainly do publish academically-minded content, we generally strive to feature accessible pieces that demystify difficult topics or open up interesting conversations. This means avoiding unnecessary jargon or theory buzzwords that don’t actually add to the text. The same editorial mission always applies to any content we produce that’s SEO-minded.
About submissions
Accepted submissions may be edited and published at any time. Writers will be paid upon publication by direct deposit. All compensation will be on a per-article basis based on experience. Format Magazine retains the right to also publish content on other sites.
