In her photo series Seeking Stephanie, photographer Evie Metz returns to her Florida hometown to explore her early memories. From neighborhoods backyards to blue sky beaches, each photo omits a sense of something deeply personal, like flipping through a childhood photo album.
Metz’s images are evocative and lush. Shooting in medium format, she captures small moments: a peeling sunburn, a sleeping cat, flowers dropping their petals. The quiet scenes magnify the nostalgia that she captures and hints at a larger story. “My work acknowledges human mortality and supernatural yet familiar moments of existence,” she says.
