Tom Hancocks is a visual artist and designer working in both digital and graphic forms to create minimal compositions emphasizing light, space and objects. Based in New York City, Hancocks’ work explores bizarre geometries and artificial environments through set design, photography, or animation.
Hancocks’ newest series, Seated, utilizes many of the motifs present in his other works, but pushes his examinations of space and minimal arrangements to an even deeper degree. Stripping back both arrangements and colour schemes affords a greater insight into the Hancocks’ keen understanding of space and composition. He plans to explore a similar bare-bones approach in an upcoming series, Rooms and Stairs, later in 2015.
