Format, a 27-person team based in Toronto, is seeking a senior Interactive / UI Designer. As an integral member of our design-focused team, you will be responsible for providing the best possible user experience for our creative user base. On the same note, this is an incredible opportunity to get down into the trenches of a growing business/product, work with cutting-edge technologies, and solve challenging problems daily.
Format.com is our primary product: an online portfolio platform that enables creatives to showcase their body of work to clients, employers, patrons, and the world-at-large. Currently, Format is used by tens of thousands of creative professionals in over 140 countries worldwide.
Kredo.com is our new, iPad based product launching early 2015. The Kredo iPad portfolio app enables creatives to present their work in the highest quality possible both in person and online, and connect with other professionals and clients through a global network.
As a designer, you ultimately want to create original and fulfilling work that challenges you. At Format, every piece of design you produce will be seen and used by well-respected peers in a variety of creative industries worldwide: professional designers, photographers, and artists.
You will work closely with a talented team of senior designers, with direct access to our CEO (who holds a design degree from OCADu ) to create the best possible products for a community of creative professionals who rely on Format for their creative careers. You will have complete ownership over large areas of our product, and will help make decisions that determine the future direction of our company.
We are a proudly self-funded company. This ensures that the products we create are the best possible solutions for our end users. We do this by focusing on providing our community and customers with perfection across design, technology, communication, and customer support.
We understand that your happiness determines the quality of your work — don’t expect any late nights or working weekends here (unless it’s your choice). We offer competitive salaries, a yearly bonus pool, very flexible vacation time, and put an incredible amount of effort into building an office culture that we all want to be a part of — we celebrate our accomplishments as a team. Last year, we treated everyone to an unforgettable ski and dogsledding trip to Mont Tremblant.
Our Toronto post-and-beam office in Liberty Village is designed to cultivate teamwork. Everyone has a new desk equipped with an Aeron chair and top-notch Apple gear. We cater free lunches on Mondays (with more days to come), and have an in-office coffee subscription for all-you-can-drink espresso.
At Format, we propel the career of the creative professional by building tools essential to their success. We’re looking for a designer that wants to take this journey with us.
